Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

The Montreal Cigar Club (“the Club”, “we”) is a private members’ society based in Montréal, Québec, Canada. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25) and the federal PIPEDA.

We do not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or social media pixels. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes connection data to deliver and protect the site.

3. Consent

By submitting a form you consent to the collection and use described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by writing to us; we will then stop processing your application or reservation.

4. Sharing and storage

Personal information is stored on Cloudflare infrastructure and may be processed outside Québec, including in the United States. It is accessible only to the Club’s founding committee. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own purposes.

5. Retention

Applications are kept for 12 months after a decision; RSVP records for 12 months after the event; abuse-prevention logs for 90 days. Member records are kept for the duration of membership plus 2 years, unless a longer period is required by law.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may ask that we stop using it. Write to [email protected]. We respond within 30 days. You may also lodge a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.

7. Security

All traffic is encrypted (TLS). Submissions are stored in encrypted storage with access restricted by secret credentials. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we will notify affected persons and the Commission as required by law.

8. Minors

This site and the Club’s services are intended exclusively for persons 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors; any such information will be deleted upon discovery.

9. Changes

We may update this policy; the date above indicates the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
